Why We Build Embedded-First

When a client comes to us with a product idea, the temptation is always to treat hardware and software as two separate tracks that get stitched together near the end. We've found that approach quietly adds weeks of rework every time - a firmware constraint discovered late forces a board re-spin, or a display driver chosen for cost turns out to fight the UI the client actually wanted.

What embedded-first actually looks like

Building embedded-first means the firmware engineer is in the room when the schematic is being reviewed, not handed a finished board and told to make it work. It means questions like "how will this device recover from a brownout in the field" get asked before a single line of production code is written, not discovered during certification testing.

In practice, this looks like short, frequent syncs between our hardware and firmware teams from the very first design review, a shared understanding of the product's real operating environment (temperature range, power budget, connectivity constraints), and a willingness to push back on a hardware choice early if it will make the software brittle later.

The payoff

The result isn't just fewer re-spins - it's a product where the hardware and firmware were designed to complement each other's strengths, instead of the software spending its life compensating for hardware decisions made in isolation.
